Super SUPER important info

This year we have a very different course due to some property shifts. It is more technical, has more vert and is longer.  So yeah, Its an 1 1 k and 22k race now!
The 2021-2025
old course was 10.74k and 2 1 1 m of vert.
The new 2026 course is 1 1 .14k with 306m of vert.
There is about 25% more technical singletrack as well.
The paved road portion is about 475m long now instead of 200m.
So not a huge deal but figure on adding 5% more time to your race. If you are doing the 22k double loop, we are keeping the 1 .5 hr cutoff for the 1st lap to be sure racers get across the cove at low tide. Our goal is to have all racers finished in 3 hours whether they are running  the 1 1 k or the 22k.

Super Important info

  1. This years cap is 115 racers.
  2. We will do a waiting list this year, 20 people. Email [email protected] to git on it!
  3. NO transfers.

  4. NO day of registrations.
  5. NO casual walkers,  This is a race. Give 'er!
  6. We sell out in a few hours so be XTRA snappy!

Sorry for the inconvenience but this makes much less work for us, keeping costs lower and the transfers don't work well anyway.  Make sure when you sign up that you have the time off. In 2016 We had 35 no shows and that is a bummer for others who missed the registration but wanted to come enjoy the fun.  If you can't make it, please tell us. The earlier , the better. We will find new people to take your spot.

The Course:
The Herring Run is held on one 1 1 km loop, run once or twice depending on your gumption. And you will need more gumption this year. It goes inland first then works it's way back to the coast.
It is mostly on single and double track with 2 paved road crossings (one involves running 475 meters on the paved road before crossing and ducking into a 1/2 mile of dirt rd.)  The trail runs  over two bumpy hills and about a 1/2 mile along the rocky bay shore.  You even have to cross a good size cove at low tide.  Many private landowners have been gracious enough to open up their property for such shenanigans and so we are all grateful to them.
THE KIDS RACE will be 2 laps around our fields and a bit of woods for a total of
        a 1/2 mile.

Yummy bits:
There will be a free, locally sourced, mostly organic luncheon for racers and volunteers around
1 1:30AM and go on into the afternoon. The kids race will take place around Noonish or after all the 11/22k runners and volunteers get back. Anyone who wants to is encouraged to come early and stay Saturday night and join us for a bonfire. As always, there will be free camping in our fields. We have organized this to be an event to "hang out" at after the race for a bit. Sadie and I would love to meet all of you and make more friends.

Sorry, NO "day of" registration.

Everyone must sign in before 8:00 AM on July 19th.
The reason is for safety.  We want to give a list of all runners to the volunteers before they are sent out along the course so they can be sure nobody got stuck in a hole or worse.  We want to be prepared and ready for accidents so we can help you.

Cut off times for 22k....
Due to the complexity of the low tide crossing, we need all racers to be finished by    1 1:30 AM  (3 hours after the start).  So, if you sign up for the 22k, we are imposing a one hr, 30 min time limit on your first lap. So an
Hour and a half CUt Off TIme for Lap 1. If you do not think you can make this, please sign up for the 1 1 k as you will have 3 hours to complete one lap.  And this years course is a bit harder in length, vert and distance.
Anyone is welcome to try but please be prepared to be asked to stop racing at the aid station at the 1 lap mark if you do not make the cut off time.
A rough gauge for your time on this technical course is to take you road race time for the distance and multiply it by  1 .5.

Aid stations
There will be only one aid station for the 22k at the one lap mark.  We will try to offer classic Herring Run refreshments like water, lemonade and homemade energy bars.
22k racers are also encouraged to leave a drop bag with your own snacks and drink at the aid station that you can easily access upon finishing your first lap.

There will not be any aid stations for the 11 k.

Agua.  ..  .. . . . . . .
Everyone is encouraged to bring your own water on the run, whether it be a hand held water bottle, hydration bladder or waist pack as you may well be out enjoying the trail for a while on a hot summer day.

Free Camping is available in our fields.
Other fine places to stay in our area

Doggies?
Please keep your dogs at home.
Although we love dogs,  we ask that you keep your pups at home to avoid any issues involving food, kids, squishy poo or race course obstacles.
Thank you, and sorry for any inconvenience.
